Blogging Chicks presented a challenge when they announced their next Carnival topic: Why I Love Blogging. Since I haven't actually been blogging for years, like so many others, it made me think. Do I really love blogging? I quickly answered yes and here are just a few of my reasons:

  • New friends! The older I get, the more I miss the close friendships I had in school. These were friends you saw every day and you were part of their lives. Blogging has given that back to me. Through reading other's posts on a consistent basis, I'm able to get to know their personality, preferences, and even pet peeves! Sometimes the posts make me laugh, sometimes they bring me to tears, but there is a sisterhood and camaraderie that happens online that is somewhat indescribable to a non-blogger.
  • Scrappin' sisters! I've met more scrapbookers online than I could ever meet in person. Scrapbookers in small towns, large cities, with lots of kids and lots of pets, or none of them at all. But we all have at least one love in common: scrapbooking. How fun to know I'm not alone in the beloved hobby that we all share! How exciting to share my life and my layouts with an ever-increasing online community of sisters!
  • Published writing! I've always loved to write. (Guess that's why I'm an author.) Blogging allows me to share some of my ideas, which are always overflowing, with the general public. I don't have to wait to hear back from the magazine editor about when my article will be published nine months from now. Nor do I have to wait two years to see my writing in print in a book. It's quick, current, and offers immediate feedback.
  • Connecting points! In this go-go world where few people have time to meet for coffee or a leisurely dinner out, blogging allows me to find connecting points with others. Although we may not be sipping coffee together in the local Starbuck's, we could each have our own coffee mugs sitting next to our keyboards as we type and read. I find people in the "cyber" world that I may never have met in the "real" world and I like these people. Some have even become close friends that I miss when we don't chat or I don't get their blog updates. It connects me to the humanity that is around me, even if we're connected by cables and wires and microchips.

I could go on, but those are my three talking points for the day. I wanted to save some time to find out if and why other people love to blog. Here's what I found!

I love your site! So cuteness! Like you, I enjoy meeting new people from all over and scrapbook people too!!! It's awesome!
Visiting from Blogging Chicks!

Though I'm not a scrapbooker, I am with you on all the other points! Good post.

Here from the BC carnival. Great post, especially about the connecting part.

You are soooo right!!! I have made new friends, found others that enjoy the same hobby (photography & cross-stitch). I love blogging! It is kind of an escape from things here around the house. :)

Here via the carnival!!

I have most the same reasons like you. I know that I would never have the chance to get published, so I use my blog to write. And I agree. I have met people from around the would I would never meet in real life.

'scrappin sisters'
..... made me think about growing up with three sisters. The kind of scrappin we did got us a willow on the bottom.

My daughter scraps, tho, so I understand the obsession. I love to look at her work.

I love the blogging recipe! And it's just like all home-made recipes - it can be individualized to your taste! Mine would be more than half opinion. LOL Great job on the blogging. Just wish I had the time to scrapbook all that I have piled up in my drawers. One day... one day.

This is a great post and I love your blog design too. I'm enjoying these carnival posts, what fun!

Hello from a fellow scrapping blogger. Love your reasons for blogging and I think most of us can relate. Your blog looks fun, I'll be back! :)

Great thoughts here! I loved what you said and how you said it. I'm going to come back and check you out when I have more time.

Oops. That should give the right homepage this time. Sorry about that.

You're so right. We do make new friends through blogging. There are so many interesting people on the blogosphere. It is also very fulfilling to see one's work posted.

Good luck with your writing, both professionally and personally!
