Focusing On Depth of Field

My photography group at Scrapbook.com is exploring Depth of Field this week, so I thought I'd pull a few shots for the challenge. Here's a little background on Bokeh and DOF:

Bokeh describes the rendition of out-of-focus points of light. Bokeh is different from sharpness. Sharpness is what happens at the point of best focus. Bokeh is what happens away from the point of best focus. Bokeh describes the appearance or "feel" of out-of-focus backgrounds and foregrounds.

Hi..

M a beginer to photography and I came here thru http://digital-photography-school.com/blog/depth-of-field-preview/.

As always, I too hav a confusion in choosing a nice DSLR for a beginer like me. And the 2 options I hav now is Nikon D60 and Canon EOS 400D/. Al the response I get is for nikon, but now this DOF feature is confuing me, coz nikon doesn hav this option.

Is this really a needed stuff for a beginer like me? and Im too much interested in using the focus n exposure related stuffs.

Plz help me out!
